Women's History Month
Women's History Month
Honoring inspirational female leaders
At Oklahoma State University, we are passionate about celebrating the exceptional
accomplishments of women throughout history and the lasting impacts they have made.
In 1981, Congress requested that President Ronald Reagan proclaim the week of March
7 as Women's History Week. The celebration remained a weeklong event until 1987, when
the holiday became Women's History Month. To commemorate women's contributions, the
first comprehensive federal report on the state of women was released in March 2011.
Each year, the Cowboy family comes together in March to honor our women through a
series of events, programs and meetings.
Celebrating our accomplishmentsand empowering one another
