Tika received her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with emphases in health, leadership and disaster preparedness and emergency management from Arkansas State University and her master’s degree in college student personnel administration from the University of Central Arkansas. As an undergraduate, Tika’s academic research interests led her to the field of student affairs as a gateway to a professional career where she could impact students’ leadership and professional development, campus engagement and their personal growth. Today, her research interests include multicultural and Black/African American cultural centers and their a/effect on Black/African American students’ retention rates, engagement and persistence to graduation. She considers relationships invaluable and necessary to effectively be of service to students. Tika is devoted to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of academia and supports, connects and provides opportunities for OSU students, faculty and staff to become versed in diverse perspectives, experiences and cultures.
